Aksoy

This is Aksoy, found him (it’s not like he was lost or anything) on ModelMayhem which is a bit like an open source platform for models.  These are  really bad video s from the day, to give you a sense of before and after… the whole reason this happened is because of May, a friend in Singapore who suggested ModelMayhem when I shared about clothes painting.. MM sounded like the perfect way to show the potential of painted clothes.

When I first applied to MM my backyard style photo’s were rejected, (surprise surprise) so May let me use her account to set up a casting call..  a lot of people responded.  I hadn’t really looked around the site much before I made the call, just wrote a quick blurb and basically forgot about it until I got a polite nudge from May suggesting I start connecting with the people who were interested.  It was really great looking thru the portolios, getting a sense of who the clothes would work on – given they were my clothes, the model had to have a similar height and weight to carry them.

Was also weird seeing my clothes on somebody else… for the guys I went op-shopping armed with their measurements and photo’s.  It was actually pretty nervewracking buying clothes for guys I’d never met, buying them to paint with designs that they might now like… what I learned about models is that they can make anything look great so I needn’t have worried.

It was a steep learning curve these guys are extremely serious about their art and I was duly taught a few lessons about the modelling industry… basically by doing everything I could possibly do wrong – too many models, too many clothes, wrong sizes, didn’t prepare with the photographer two weeks in advance, was unaware of the massive difference between a photographer and a photoshopper, ran overtime, didn’t get photo’s of all the clothes, the models froze etc etc.

I was just plain bad class the first time and totally geared for the next – bring it on I say!
